Population of the Macarthur Region

The Macarthur Region's population in 2001 was 226,026 (Source: ABS). The estimate for 2006 is somewhere between 240,000 - 260,000 people. The Region's population is expected to grow upwards toward 400,000 in the next 10 years.

There were quite a few interesting facts that came out of the 2001 census, here are some of them.

  • 76% of the population identified they were Christian.
  • 23% of the population is aged between 35 and 49.
  • 22% of the population was born overseas.
  • There are 76,635 houses in the Region.
